Kitahama High School Kitahama High School is a full-time general education high school that upholds the educational philosophy of "Autonomy, Cooperation, and Creativity." The school building is situated on a vast campus, featuring not only standard classrooms but also a full range of specialized facilities including science labs, art rooms, music rooms, a computer lab, a cooking room, and a workshop. Furthermore, it is equipped with a gymnasium, a 25m pool, a large athletic field, tennis courts, and a dedicated club building for various sports and cultural clubs, providing an environment where students can balance their studies with extracurricular activities. Each grade consists of five classes, ranging from Class 1-1 to 1-5, 2-1 to 2-5, and 3-1 to 3-5. Additionally, a special education class (Class 1) is established to provide education tailored to individual needs. The school building houses the faculty office, principal's office, administrative office, nurse's office, student guidance room, counseling room, career guidance room, and training rooms, supporting student life from various aspects. In classes, the school emphasizes not only improving basic academic skills but also education that values experiments and practical training. Students can engage in hands-on learning, such as chemistry, physics, and biology experiments in the 1st and 2nd Science Labs; sketching and design in the 1st and 2nd Art Rooms; and choral singing and instrumental performance in the 1st and 2nd Music Rooms. Furthermore, students learn information processing and programming in the computer lab, home economics in the cooking room, and woodworking and metalworking in the workshop. Extracurricular activities are very popular at Kitahama High, with many students working hard after school. In particular, the Brass Band is a popular club representing the school, boasting a large-scale membership of 71 students. They engage in a wide range of activities, including annual regular concerts, appearances at local events, and participation in competitions, enjoying high popularity within the school. Consequently, the Brass Band has three dedicated club rooms, along with an instrument storage room and a music preparation room. Among sports clubs, the Track and Field club has the most members at 41, with students active in various events such as sprinting, long-distance, jumping, and throwing. This is followed by the Volleyball club (24 members), Tennis club (17), Soccer club (16), Baseball club (14), Badminton club (13), Swimming club (11), Judo club (10), and Kendo club (9). Each club practices daily with the goal of advancing in tournaments, as the entire school strives for excellence in both academics and sports. Cultural clubs are also well-represented, with 31 members in the Chorus club enlivening the school festival and local events with beautiful harmonies. The Computer club (19 members) works on programming, CG production, and game development, while the Science club (16 members) deepens their understanding of science through experiments and research. Additionally, the Flower Arrangement club (10 members) and Home Economics club (9 members) are active, creating and presenting works that showcase their individuality. School events are plentiful, with many events held throughout the year, including Sports Day, the School Festival, the Choral Festival, ball game tournaments, field trips, and school excursions. During the School Festival, the venue is crowded with visitors enjoying stage performances by the Brass Band and Chorus club, science shows by the Science club, and exhibitions by the Home Economics club. During Sports Day, intense competitions centered around the Track and Field club take place, bringing great excitement to the entire school. School facilities have undergone recent renovations, with electronic blackboards and high-speed Wi-Fi introduced in all standard classrooms. The computer lab is equipped with the latest desktop PCs, used not only for information classes but also for inquiry-based learning and creating presentation materials. The library houses approximately 40,000 volumes, including novels, specialized books, and reference materials, and is used by many students as a quiet study space after school. Self-study spaces are also provided, which become crowded with students before periodic exams. The Brass Band is a symbol of the school, and taking advantage of its large 71-member formation, it actively participates not only in brass band competitions but also in marching events and local music festivals. The club rooms are divided into three, with separate practice areas for woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The large instrument storage room houses large percussion instruments, double basses, and tubas. The annual regular concert is held in a hall and has become a famous Kitahama High event, attended by many graduates and local residents. Career guidance is also comprehensive, with the career guidance room handling a wide range of paths including universities, junior colleges, vocational schools, and employment. After school, individual interviews, interview practice, and essay guidance are provided, offering detailed support tailored to each student's wishes.
