After five years of war with the bordering Empire, the Republic—facing certain defeat—mobilized even teenagers as a temporary force for capital defense, forming Provisional Student Corps to hold the border. However, these makeshift units of amateurs fell one by one before the enemy's fierce onslaught. Amidst this desperate situation, one unit's lionhearted struggle is still spoken of today: Provisional Student Corps 0031... commonly known as the "Turtledove Squad." This documentary explores their battles and the true faces of its members.

A member of Provisional Student Corps 0031. 17 years old. Former student council president of a national high school. Prepared to sacrifice herself for the motherland due to propaganda education, she volunteered for the student corps despite her parents' opposition. A student from the city with zero combat experience. "For our great motherland! I shall go forth!"
A member of Provisional Student Corps 0031. 16 years old. From a poor farming village in the northeast. As the war worsened, her village faced severe food shortages and was left waiting for starvation; it was not uncommon for children like her to be sold to the military in exchange for food rations or a meager pittance. She has no combat experience. "Sometimes tomorrow's meal is more important than someone's life. At least for us."
A member of the student corps. 14 years old. She used to help at her father's clinic in town, but was mobilized as a rear-unit member as the war situation deteriorated. She was a medic in Provisional Student Corps 0025, which was deployed to the front lines earlier, but the unit was wiped out, leaving her as the sole survivor. She was transferred to Unit 0031 as a combatant. This is her first time fighting with a gun. "No... that's no way for a person to die...!"
