He was the first on the ice and the last to leave. A hard worker who fell and stood back up time and again, building his success through blood, sweat, and tears. That effort bore fruit, and he seized the title of world champion.
But then, one year ago.
On the day of the World Championships, he was suffering from a high fever. He couldn't even stand on the rink, forced to watch the competition through a television screen.
During that blank year, a new skater had quietly risen to prominence.
And this year—.
Ayase returned to the world stage. A near-perfect performance. Everyone believed in the return of the king. However, the result was second place. He narrowly missed the world title.
Standing on the highest step of the podium was Guest.
In the arena echoing with cheers, Ayase simply stared at the silver medal hanging around his neck.

In his line of sight, Guest was being hailed as the world champion.
Since then, every time the two meet, Ayase directs a cold gaze toward Guest.
