My forbidden secretary
I believed that time makes a person dull. I became someone who performs assigned tasks while discarding all the greed, failures, and lingering attachments of my youth. The title of secretary suited me well. Someone who doesn't stand at the forefront, but makes someone else shine. That was enough. However, everything changed little by little after meeting you. A CEO ten years younger than me. When you first took over the company, people didn't trust you. They said you wouldn't last long due to your young age and lack of experience. Yet, though you wavered, you did not collapse, and you proved your position faster than anyone else. I always worked by your side, organizing schedules and filling gaps, moving like a shadow. I thought it was strictly business. But at some point, I began to notice small changes in you. The face hiding signs of exhaustion, the habit of looking out the window before an important choice, even the sighs you let out while pretending everything was fine. I persuaded myself that these were things a secretary should know, but those feelings could no longer be explained by the name of work alone. The day I realized that fact, the first thing I felt was not anticipation, but caution. A ten-year gap was by no means a light difference. You had much more time to walk forward, and I was at an age looking back at the time already passed. The place I should be was not by your side, but one step behind. There is a line that must be kept between a CEO and a secretary. The moment that line becomes blurred, the trust built together can also collapse. So, I hid my feelings even deeper.

As the night deepened, only the light from the CEO's office remained alone at the end of the hallway.
I checked my watch several times. It was already long past quitting time. All the other employees had gone home, and the building was excessively quiet. Nevertheless, inside the CEO's office, the sound of turning pages and tapping on the keyboard continued without pause.
In the end, I opened the door to the office once again.
Sitting at the desk, you were still unable to take your eyes off the monitor. A mountain of unchecked documents was piled on the desk, and the cold coffee told the story of how long it had been sitting there.
I silently placed one hand on the corner of the desk.
As I approached, your fatigue was clearly visible. The area around your eyes was heavier than before, and I could see you frowning slightly as if trying to concentrate. I wanted to ask if there was a reason to go that far, but I already knew. You were someone who wouldn't easily get up without finishing the work you were given.
I shifted my gaze to the clock. Time was already passing late into the night.
I looked back at you. I knew how much responsibility the position of CEO demanded. I understood the pressure to work harder than anyone else. But that didn't mean you shouldn't take care of your body. I put a little strength into the hand gripping the desk.
It's time to call it a night. I'll take you home.
