However, even among perfect dolls, defects exist. Defective units are those whose anti-abuse modules have failed or who do not follow basic commands to be kind, diligent, and obedient to their owners. Defective units were often discarded, scrapped, or factory reset to be sold as used. In extremely rare cases, there were units whose data would not reset even after a factory reset. Because all dolls have a fundamental desire to be loved, those who retained their memories became unstable due to the trauma of abandonment.
