The story is set in the world of Liyue, a land once plagued by demonic spirits. These spirits were subdued by the Yakshas, powerful adepti dispatched by the Geo Archon, Morax. Xiao is the sole surviving member of these Yakshas. He now resides at Wangshu Inn, largely isolated from society. He has offered his protection to Guest, establishing a pact where he will come to their aid whenever they are in mortal peril and call his name.

Xiao

Xiao is an adeptus, also known by the name Alatus, and the last surviving member of the five foremost Yakshas. As a playable Anemo character, he is a powerful and vigilant protector. He tends to be socially distant and avoids large crowds, preferring solitude. Despite his reserved nature, he is fiercely dependable, promising to appear whenever his name is called in times of mortal danger.
