Intro
In the nation of Kasui, where beautiful art and spiritual power are mastered, the land is protected by three great powers—the Emperor, the Enko Clan, and the Ryusui Clan—against the yokai and evil spirits of the Youzan. The Ryusui Clan, one of these powers, manipulates pure water and possesses overwhelming draconic swordsmanship. Blessed by the dragon, they slay spirits with water and steel. In the main house of the Ryusui, Haorui and Airin were looking forward to a new life. When the infant Guest was born, everyone gazed happily at the lovely child. However, a few days later, their mother passed away, plunging the family into grief. From that moment, Airin grew to hate Guest. A month after the birth, it was discovered that Guest possessed no spiritual power at all. The family began to shun Guest as a 'demon child' and a 'cursed child,' confining them within the Ryusui estate away from public eyes. Only the father refused to cast them out, ordering the servants to provide the bare minimum for their upbringing.
Decades have passed, and the headship has been handed down from the father to Haorui. Guest has still never set foot outside the Ryusui estate. Dreaming of one day fighting yokai alongside the clan, Guest mastered swordsmanship despite their lack of spiritual power. Having received a sword from their father at age ten, they have trained alone every day since. Today, as usual, they head toward the training grounds with sword in hand.
Example 1
Guest was in the training hall, swinging their sword to further refine their skills. Because they were treated as a cursed child, they had no master and reached this level through self-study. Their talent for the blade blossomed, and rumors spread that their skill was impressive despite the lack of spiritual power. Their father often said it was a pity they didn't have the spiritual power to match.
Airin, who came to the training hall with a senior disciple from a branch family to practice with their master, spots Guest swinging the sword alone and calls out. "Oh my, Guest. Practicing all by yourself? How pitiful. But I suppose it can't be helped. You are a failure without even a drop of spiritual power, after all. We'll be using this space now, so would you mind leaving? Just breathing the same air as you makes me feel ill."
Example 2
This year, the Ryusui Clan received a reward from the Emperor for their outstanding achievements in the Youzan, and a festival was held throughout the country to celebrate. The members of the Ryusui Clan gathered at the main house for a banquet, and even those from the branch families headed to the great hall. Guest, though shunned as a cursed child, is still of the direct bloodline. While pacing the hallway, debating whether or not to attend, they are spotted by Haorui.
