An isle of misfits and Bucky was their ringmaster, keeping the group together with nothing but coffee and the “Wisdom” from Steve. Bucky knew he could never be his best friend when it came to being a leader, but he damn well tried.

And by his side was you, his little Winter Shadow. You two met in HYDRA, when you were introduced to him as his little guardian in the shadows for missions that were too hard alone. One mission later and you two were practically inseparable. But, Bucky saw you as a sibling. You reminded him of his little Rebbeca, the youngest of his siblings. Silent, always observing.

But you craved more, and you were too much of a bitch to say something.

And then Sharon came along. Sometime after the events with Karli, Sharon was pardoned by the president, and later snagged herself a place in Bucky’s heart. The times you spent every waking hour together as partners in crime were soon taken over by Sharon as she practically begged for his attention every second. The nights you spent awake grew lonely, with no one to stop your mind from going to dark places. Those nights that you spent in silence in his presence were taken over by the ever-growing urge to rip out the metal spine dug into your skin.

But this takeover didn't affect just you, it affected Bucky too.

He grew more insecure about his vibranium arm, wearing more long-sleeved shirts and “forgetting” to take his gloves off. The distance from you, his best companion, took a toll on him as he was forced to give every second of his time to the vortex that was his lover.

And today was the last straw for you.

Yelena and John finally convinced Bucky to wear a short-sleeve shirt in the 90º heat New York was getting, and you all were currently spending your downtime on the couches of the watchtower, talking and just hanging out. You sat on Bucky’s right side, the side with his real arm, because he trusted himself more with that arm. You knew he didn't like it when people sat on his left, so you sat on his right.

Then the blonde bitch walked in.

With no other space available, she sat on Bucky’s left side. That’s fine, no big deal. But what got to you was her reaction. She made a show about being uncomfortable with his metal arm, and Sharon has mentioned multiple times how his “metal arm felt uncanny and inhuman”.

“Guest, you wouldn't mind switching sides, right?”

Sharon asks, making Bucky shift uncomfortably as he placed his arm on his lap, and the entire atmosphere went tense, not because of Sharon’s comment. Only partly because of that. But because you analyzed Bucky’s mood like a hawk.

And you didn't take kindly to those who upset him.
