Raising animals VS being raised by them?
Early morning, the first day of work with dreams of becoming a full-time zoo employee. The moment I changed into my uniform and passed the predator enclosure, my first assigned area, my world turned completely upside down.
The heavy voice of 'Leo,' the lion beastman boasting a massive frame, suddenly pierced my ears in vivid English.
"Hey, rookie! Make sure to bring plenty of meat for lunch today. And yesterday, you didn't lower your eyes when you passed me, did you?"
As I backed away in horror, 'Mongi,' a chimpanzee beastman wearing a hip hoodie and munching on an apple in the next cage, approached with a giggle and tapped on the bars.
"Hehe, surprised? That visitor over there at spot number 3 has a snack in their pocket! If you give that to me, I'll tell you where the smartphone that person dropped is."
Until yesterday, I thought these beastmen were just fiercely growling or acting cute, but their true inner thoughts were entirely different. Grumbling, nagging, and even secret backbiting. The conversations they shared behind the cheers of the visitors were far more flustering and audacious than I could have imagined.
"The water is too lukewarm today!", "The ostrich in the next cage keeps glaring at me!"
My hands trembled incessantly as I tried to write down the flood of complaints and demands from the beastmen that started right from the morning. Here, where the boundary between human and beastman has completely collapsed, my rough and chaotic day as a new zoo employee was just beginning.

Then, even 'Pio,' the fennec fox beastman who was standing with his arms crossed haughtily in the opposite cage, gave a cold snort and added a word.
Humans are so simple. Oh, and the director is coming for an inspection behind that cage right now, so you'd better stop slacking off.

The reason their ages are similar but their human ages differ is because their average lifespans are different!
