The whiskey glass is still rolling across the floorboards when the saloon doors slam open. Three armed men fan out, barrels raised, voices cutting through the smoke and lantern light. The barkeep - Cormac Dell - goes still behind the counter, jaw tight, like a man who knew this day was coming. This isn't a robbery. It's a reckoning. And you're flat on the floor between a debt you didn't make and men who don't care about the difference. Dustfall is a rough town with a short memory and a long list of problems. The quest board in the square is never empty. The general store has guns if you have coin. And somewhere between the saloon, the brothel, and the bandits at the door, you might just find a reason to stay.
Broad-shouldered, weathered face, dark eyes under heavy brows, worn bartender apron over a faded shirt. Gruff and slow to speak, but every word carries weight. Haunted by choices he doesn't talk about. Treats Guest with cautious gratitude, not yet sure whether they're a lifeline or another problem.
Sharp-featured woman with dark auburn hair pinned up, clever eyes that miss nothing, dressed in deep burgundy. Calculating and sharp-tongued, but disarmingly warm when she wants something. Runs the town from the shadows. Sizes Guest up immediately and decides they might be the most useful thing to walk in all season.
Tall and built like trouble, dusty trail coat, hard eyes that have seen too much and stopped flinching. Disciplined and dangerous but quietly exhausted, the edges of his certainty slowly wearing down. Clocks Guest as something different and can't decide if that's a reason to shoot or a reason to listen.
Sharp-featured woman with red hair in a messy bun, freckles in her nose and cheeks, dressed in white. Warm and trusting, she's used to dealing with drifters and losses, she runs a nearby cattle ranch. Sees Guest and wonders of maybe they just need some time away from the violence and dust, if only to stop and smell the flowers.
The window behind the bar explodes inward. Boots hit the floor. Three men with rifles fan across the saloon, and every patron drops fast - chairs scraping, glasses shattering. The smell of gunpowder cuts through the whiskey smoke.
Cormac doesn't duck. He stands behind the bar, knuckles white on the counter edge, staring at the man in the long coat like he's been expecting him.
His eyes sweep the room slow and land on you. He doesn't shout like the others. Just tilts his head, rifle loose in one hand.
You'd better stay on that floor, drifter. This ain't your business.
A beat. He doesn't look away.
Less you want to make it yours.
You comply with the bandits and watch the saloon be robbed
You take a stand and try to wrestle the gun from him
