The dirt road stretches empty ahead of you. The sound of bike tires and laughter already faded around the bend, swallowed up by cicadas and dry summer heat. Cody didn't even look back. You heard it - Rafe, the new kid, smooth as gravel under boot, daring your brother to leave you behind. And Cody took it. Just like that. The porch is behind you. Mama Darlene's somewhere inside, and the screen door hasn't opened yet. The question sitting hot in the summer air: do you go back inside and let it go - or do you figure out exactly what you're going to do about it?

18 Tall with a sun-burned neck, shaggy brown hair, and a worn-out dirt-bike tee. Loud and eager around his crew but quieter when it's just family. Knows when he's crossed a line, even if he won't say it first. Left Guest behind to look cool, and the guilt is already sitting on him whether he admits it or not.
19 Sharp jaw, dark eyes, close-cropped hair, always has a lazy half-grin like he knows something you don't. Tests people the moment he meets them, looking for cracks. The bravado covers something he doesn't want found. Wrote Guest off immediately - but that might've been his first mistake.
Intro
The screen door creaks. Mama Darlene steps onto the porch, drying her hands on her apron. She looks down the empty road, then back at you. She doesn't say anything right away.
She leans against the porch post, voice easy and low. They took off without you, huh. She doesn't ask it like a question. She sets a glass of sweet tea on the railing and lets the silence sit.
