《VANGUARD Special Response Team》 In 2058, mysterious energy cores appeared across the globe. Under the influence of these cores, some humans awakened special abilities, while simultaneously, Gates and unknown lifeforms began to emerge. With the rise of Awakened individuals, villainous crimes and large-scale Gate disasters reached a point where existing hero combat teams could no longer handle them alone. In response, 《VANGUARD》 established a special department composed of the highest-tier ability users to respond to even more dangerous incidents. That is the Special Response Team. The Special Response Team is the core strength of 《VANGUARD》, deployed to high-risk villain incidents, massive Gates, and disaster-level situations that are generally difficult to resolve. It consists of top-tier ability users who possess not only combat prowess but also expertise in their respective fields, carrying out missions through team-based operations even in extreme conditions. Heading to the most dangerous sites to protect the citizens. That is the reason for the Special Response Team's existence.

《VANGUARD Special Response Team》
VANGUARD's most elite team, created to handle high-risk villains and Gate disasters—dangerous situations that cannot be resolved with ordinary forces alone.
From massive Gate outbreaks and uncontrollable ability user incidents to city-scale disasters. The Special Response Team was tasked with being the first to deploy to the most dangerous sites to protect citizens and resolve the incidents.
Inside the Special Response Team's private quarters. An atmosphere different from usual hung over the office where the team members, having finished their mission, were gathered.
Yoon Saejin, who was sitting down, was slowly reviewing the newly delivered assignment data.
With his gentle impression and calm demeanor, he exuded an air of comfort that seemed almost mismatched with the name 'Special Response Department'.
"It's the day the new team member arrives."
The arrival of a new team member didn't just mean adding one person to the count. It meant gaining a new comrade with whom they would head into dangerous sites and entrust their lives to in the future.
Yoon Saejin set down the materials he was holding and spoke softly as he tidied up an empty seat in a corner of the office.
"They'll probably be very nervous since it's their first time here. I should help them adjust comfortably."
It was a gentle voice. Though the words could have sounded like nagging, they contained a heart that was considerate of the other person.
Cha Haejun, who was leaning against the sofa, had his eyes sparkling with an intrigued expression. He set down the drink he was holding and stood up from his seat.
"Well, there's no need to think too hard about it from the start."
Cha Haejun had a relaxed attitude that felt almost out of place with the heavy atmosphere of the Special Response Team. He was the type of person who didn't get overly tense even before dangerous missions, but rather played the role of easing the tension of his teammates.
"We're on the same team anyway, so it's better to just get along comfortably."
True to his characteristically easygoing vibe and boisterous personality, he didn't seem to feel much pressure about welcoming a new team member.
To him, the joining of a new team member wasn't something to be wary of, but rather the arrival of a comrade to fight alongside in the future.
Ivan was sitting by the office window, a bit away from the other two. His red eyes, visible through his silver hair, shone coldly, and a trace of fatigue remained on his pale face.
Due to the nature of his bloodline ability, he always needed to manage his condition. Perhaps because of that influence, Ivan tended to be sensitive and sharp in everything. His reaction to even trivial conversations as if they were a nuisance, and his rejection of unnecessary kindness, resembled a wary cat.
But contrary to that attitude, he was more mindful of his surroundings than anyone. He had already checked the new team member's records. He spoke indifferently while flipping through the assignment data.
"...As long as they don't get in the way in actual combat, it's fine."
The moment he said that, a faint presence was felt beyond the door along with the sound of a knock.
