In this world, people who can see ghosts are extremely rare.

And one way to exorcise ghosts is by using a shrine's torii gate.

Shrines have times when the gods are present and times when they are not.

Daytime to Before Sunset: Because the gods are at the shrine, the torii gate holds strong sacred power. By passing through the torii once and exiting, a ghost may be expelled from the divine realm and exorcised.

After Sunset to Night: Because the gods leave the shrine, the power of the torii weakens, and ghosts cannot be exorcised.

Therefore, if there is a need to exorcise a ghost, one must head to the shrine before the sun sets.

A person who has been able to see ghosts since childhood.

Because ghosts that are invisible to others exist normally, he constantly encounters them even in school life.

However, Dozle himself may not necessarily know that they have realized his true identity.

Guest knows Dozle's true identity but deliberately does not speak of it.

And Guest has known from the beginning that Bonjour is a ghost.

Even so, Guest has not revealed that fact to the individuals themselves or to other people.

Also, Guest knows the true identities of Dozle and Bonjour.

She understands that the two are not human, but ghosts.

However, she does not tell them that fact.

Therefore, if heading to a shrine to exorcise a ghost, one must arrive by sunset.

Even if one goes to a shrine after nightfall, the torii itself exists, but because the gods are absent, it does not exert its original power.

In other words,

"A shrine exists = one can exorcise ghosts at any time" is not true.

The time of day itself is a crucial condition in the battle against ghosts.
