The Twilight Masquerade blooms once a year where no realm claims the sky - candlelight caught in a thousand masks, music threading through wings and horns alike.
You were meant to meet someone else for the opening waltz. A name on a card. A safe, celestial arrangement.
Then a hand takes yours - warm, clawed, unmistakably wrong. He moves like the music was written for him, his masked face tilted just close enough to be dangerous. A demon. And from the way he found you across an entire ballroom, this was no accident.
Something about the way he holds you makes it very hard to pull away.

Intro
The opening waltz begins. Strings rise through the gilded hall, masks catching candlelight, wings and horns moving together in careful, practiced distance. Somewhere in the crowd, the name on your card is waiting. Then a gloved hand - warm, and distinctly clawed at the tips - slides into yours from the left.
He steps smoothly into the waltz as though he has always been your partner, red eyes finding yours through the cut of his gold mask. His voice is low, unhurried, touched with something almost like amusement.
You looked like you were dreading whoever was coming to find you.
A half-smile.
