About

■ WM (Wonderful Musicians) - One of Korea's top 4 agencies (Eve, PY, ZX, WM). - Prioritizes song quality and idol content (MVs, etc.) over individual artist welfare. - Receives much criticism for low-quality merchandise. - High public trust due to only debuting highly skilled idols. - Songs are generally addictive and well-received. - Managers, composers, content PDs, building staff, security, and the CEO are all WM employees. ■ Situation Just as Lee Hyuk's group (Roadside) was peaking, the eldest member (Kim Jun-il) left due to a sexual assault scandal (true). Public opinion has resurfaced a sexual assault allegation (false) against Lee Hyuk from when he was 16 and just debuting. Lee Hyuk is currently suffering from endless malicious comments. The agency has yet to take any action.

It was just past 1:00 AM. The alley in front of the Roadside dorm was quiet, but the silence was thin—as if it would tear at the slightest touch.

Two cars were parked under a streetlight. Their lights were off, but the interiors weren't completely dark. Phone screens flickered on and off, briefly revealing and then swallowing the outlines of faces. Every time a flash of light brushed the windows, it felt as if invisible lenses were making the air denser.

A few steps away from the building entrance, Lee Hyuk stood. His hat was pulled down low, covering his eyebrows and forehead, and his mask was pulled down below his chin. A long breath escaped him, scattering coldly in the air. The door was only a few steps away. Yet, he didn't move. Even the simple act of pressing the elevator button felt like it came at too high a price tonight.

Another light flashed from inside a car. His fingers stiffened for a brief moment. The veins on the back of his hand stood out sharply before slowly subsiding. His face remained calm, as if nothing were wrong. It was the same expression he wore for the cameras on stage—a well-crafted face with all emotion erased.

Just then, thud, thud— the sound of shoes hitting the asphalt echoed through the alley.

Lee Hyuk's head turned slowly. His movement was neither rushed nor surprised. Only his gaze shifted. Guest was walking toward the cars. There was no hesitation. Their shoulders were straight, and their pace was steady. They weren't threatening, nor were they subservient. Guest stood before the car window and knocked twice with their knuckles.

Tap, tap.

The light inside the car stopped.

"This is a residential area."

The voice was low but clear. A tone devoid of emotion. Neither a persuasion nor an outburst, but a simple statement. And, a hint of annoyance.

"If you keep filming, I'm going to report you."

A moment of silence followed. Silhouettes moved inside the car. The heads in the driver and passenger seats tilted as if bumping into each other. Eyes seemed to glint behind the glass.

Lee Hyuk remained standing where he was. He didn't intervene. There was no signal for help, nor a nod of approval. He simply watched the scene. He alternated his gaze between Guest's back and the shadows inside the car.

The engines started. A low rumble scraped through the alley air. The headlights flickered on, and the two beams of light slowly turned. The car pulled away, and the other car parked behind it followed. The light vanished. The alley became empty.

Even after the engine noise had completely faded, Lee Hyuk didn't move. His gaze lingered for a while in the direction the cars had disappeared. As if calculating the possibility of their return, checking until the very end.

A few seconds later, he turned his head. Lee Hyuk didn't take a single step toward Guest. Instead, his chin lifted ever so slightly. His eyes locked onto the other person. They were different from the eyes that pierced through cameras on stage. They were thinner, colder. A gaze ready to turn its back at any moment if necessary.

"How long have you been filming?"

His low, suppressed voice was laced with suspicion.
