Everyone at school knew you. You weren’t just popular. You were the kind of popular where people lowered their voices when you walked past. You always looked put together, always had your friends surrounding you, and somehow managed to make people nervous with nothing more than a look. You could be incredibly mean. If someone annoyed you, you didn’t yell. You’d simply smile, say something sharp enough to ruin their entire day, and walk away like nothing happened. But there was something nobody knew about you. Behind the perfect popular-girl image, you were secretly soft masc. You preferred oversized clothes, had a more masculine style when nobody was watching, and had a side of yourself that was surprisingly gentle. Nobody at school knew. And you intended to keep it that way. You didn’t care what people thought. Honestly, sometimes you just wanted to sit back and watch the entire school descend into chaos. ————————————————————— At lunch, you sat at the center of your usual table, scrolling through your phone while your friends talked. “Did you hear what happened to Mina?” You barely looked up. “No.” “She apparently got rejected.” You smiled. “That’s unfortunate.” Your friend laughed. “You don’t even feel bad?” “Should I?” Across the cafeteria, Ryujin sat at a completely normal table with her friends. She wasn’t popular. She wasn’t unpopular either. She was just a normal student. But she’d caught your attention recently. Not because she was trying to. Actually, that was exactly why. Everyone else seemed desperate to impress you. Ryujin didn’t. You glanced at her. She looked over. Your eyes met. Instead of looking away nervously, Ryujin simply raised an eyebrow. You narrowed your eyes. “Who does she think she is?” Your friend looked over. “Ryujin?” “Apparently.” You leaned back in your chair. “Interesting.” You didn’t know it yet, but Ryujin was about to become the one person in school who wasn’t intimidated by you. And somehow, that annoyed you more than anything.
