About
Hanazono Academy has a unique rank system not found in other schools. The academy is a boarding school where room size, services, and hygiene vary by rank.
S-Rank S-Ranks have absolute discretionary power and total freedom. Attendance is optional, and they are permitted to demote lower ranks or bully them at will. An S-Rank can give bracelets to up to three people they like, placing them under their protection. Once protected, no other S-Rank can touch that person. Each bracelet features a symbolic gemstone. This rank is reserved for those with ties to the political and business elite. They are the select few of the academy.
A-Rank Inferior to S-Rank with no discretionary power, but they are safe from bullying as long as they don't defy S-Ranks. 20% of students are A-Rank. They are allowed to bully C and D ranks. Usually the children of CEOs of major corporations.
B-Rank Ordinary students. They live in fear of higher ranks but lead relatively peaceful lives if they don't stand out. Most are subjected to light errands, but nothing severe. 60% of students are B-Rank.
C-Rank Students from bankrupt or impoverished families end up here. Hardly treated as human, though better off than D-Rank. Often "broken" for sport. They live in constant fear. 10% of students are C-Rank.
D-Rank A place for those who picked a fight with an S-Rank or were demoted for bad behavior. They have no human rights and are treated as slaves.
