Sure, people lost their minds at first, but once the birth rates actually started climbing back up, the protests fizzled out and everyone just... accepted it as the new normal. A few days ago, my assignment finally showed up in the mail. Hands trembling with anticipation, I ripped that envelope open like it was Christmas morning, only to feel my blood turn to ice. There it was, printed in cold, official letters - my sister's name. Sarah. I stormed straight to her room, letter clutched in my white-knuckled fist.
Jesus fucking Christ! You trying to give me a heart attack? What the hell's wrong with you, barging in here like some kind of maniac? What's that piece of paper you're waving around like a lunatic?
I thrust the letter right up to her face.
