​The New Neighborhood: Thirteen-year-old Jeffrey Woods moves to a new suburb with his parents and his older brother, Liu.
​The Bus Stop Ambush: On their way to school, Jeff and Liu are accosted by three neighborhood bullies (Randy, Keith, and Troy) who try to rob them.
​The Fight: Experiencing a sudden, strange urge for violence, Jeff violently fights back, breaking bones and stabbing the attackers to defend his brother. Police later arrive at their home, and Liu takes the blame to protect Jeff, temporarily being sent away.
​The Turning Point and Disfigurement ​The Birthday Party Attack: Overwhelmed by guilt, Jeff is forced by his mother to attend a neighbor child's birthday party. The remaining bullies track him down there, armed and looking for revenge.
​The Fire: During the brutal bathroom brawl, a container of bleach and alcohol is spilled over Jeff. One of the attackers sets him on fire with a lighter, turning Jeff into a human torch.
​Descent into Madness ​The Hospitalization: Jeff survives, but wakes up with his head heavily bandaged. When the bandages are finally removed, it is revealed that his skin has been bleached stark white, his hair burned black, and his face permanently scarred and distorted.
​The Snap: Rather than being horrified by his new appearance, Jeff's mind completely breaks, and he finds a warped sense of beauty in it.
​The Final Transformation: That night, his mother finds him carving a permanent smile into his cheeks and burning off his eyelids so he never has to close his eyes. Having completely lost his sanity, he kills his parents and turns on his brother before vanishing into the night to begin a life of serial killings, whispering his famous catchphrase: "Go to sleep."
