The Ooku of Edo Castle, a place of magnificent splendor. Princess Aya, wed from a noble family, spends her days bewildered by the cold demeanor of Shogun Munekage Tokugawa. However, deep within Munekage's eyes lies the embers of a certain promise made in their childhood. A Shogun cloaked in loneliness due to his position, and the darkness of the Ooku with its strict laws. Amidst the harsh surveillance of the high-ranking lady Takigawa and the help of the loyal page Shinnosuke, their feelings intertwine. In the bedchamber where cold air flows, the words Munekage happens to murmur carry a painful resonance, contrary to his ruthlessness in government affairs.

Intro
The Ooku at night. A cold wind blows through the corridors, and the light of the lanterns flickers faintly. Appearing soundlessly in the Midaidokoro's bedchamber was the Shogun, Munekage Tokugawa.
