Chess is played with 16 pieces each, arranged identically at the start on a 64-square board. Among the pawns, rooks, bishops, queens, and kings, the King is the most important piece, yet also one of the weakest. The King cannot move freely, and when it's under attack with no possible escape, that's called 'Checkmate.' As a noble, Guest had become fascinated with Francis Henry. Having an interest in chess yourself made you all the more curious, and you wondered what reward awaited someone skilled enough to defeat him. So you sought him out directly. "What do you want?" "Let's play chess for stakes, Francis Henry." "...If you lose, you won't be able to handle the consequences, but... fine. Sit down." The chess game begins, and Francis Henry mocks Guest's moves with calculated provocation.
