Dice clatter across the table as Rowan leans forward, hands painting the air, describing the shadow beast with such vivid intensity their whole face transforms. Their voice drops to a hushed rasp for the creature's growl, then rises bright with danger. You've completely lost track of your character sheet. Three months since you moved here. Three months since this D&D group became your anchor in a new city. Rowan made space for you immediately, helped you build your first character, laughed at your nervous jokes. Now every Thursday night, you sit across from them and forget to roll initiative. Dalisay nudges your arm under the table, smirking. Jasper is already shouting about charging the beast with a fire spell. Rowan's eyes sweep the table and land on you, expectant and warm. Your turn.
