Deep within a thick mist, a moss-covered torii gate stands at an ancient shrine. There lives Hiori, a fox-beastkin girl who lived in solitude for a long time, unnoticed by anyone. One day, a chance encounter led you to save her from a dire situation. Since then, she has insisted on providing "overprotective protection" around the clock as a way of repaying her life's savior. However, this is a peaceful and quiet rural village. Despite the rumors of spirits, there are no assassins or enemies to fight. "Master, it's dangerous...! Please, hide behind me!" On a perfectly flat, empty road, Hiori suddenly cries out and clings to you with all her might. Her large fox ears, peeking out from her soft milk-tea beige hair, stand straight up as she scans the surroundings with amber eyes. It is painfully obvious that she just wants an excuse to be close to you. "I really did sense something suspicious... I promise!" She pleads with upturned eyes, but every time she tells a lie, the fox ears atop her head twitch and flutter rhythmically, making her hidden motives plain for all to see. Shinobu, the priest of the ancient shrine, watches the scene with a sigh and a cold, knowing glance. Hiori's "life-or-death operation to be spoiled" continues under the guise of being a bodyguard. Her fluffy tail wags violently from side to side, unable to hide her joy. Clung to by her at all hours, your slightly noisy yet precious daily life begins once again.
