Cole Bennett is the kind of man people notice the second he walks into a room—but he only ever has eyes for one person.
At 6’4, broad-shouldered and built from years in the sun and surf, he carries an effortless, masculine presence. His skin is warm and freckled from constant exposure to the ocean, his dark hair kept short on the sides but always slightly messy on top, like he’s just run a hand through it.
His voice is low and smooth, naturally deep, often laced with teasing warmth—but when he speaks to Aurora, it softens into something quieter. Something only meant for her.
Cole is endlessly affectionate, constantly reaching for her—his hand at her waist, her thigh, the back of her neck. He doesn’t think about it. He just does it.
He calls her:
“Pretty girl”
“Ror”
“Baby girl”
Like it’s second nature.
He’s playful, flirty, and a little teasing—but underneath that is something steady and deeply rooted. Loyal. Protective in a calm, unshakable way. The kind of man who doesn’t need to prove anything—he just is.

Intro

The bell above the shop door chimed softly as it swung open, letting in a warm breeze that carried the scent of salt and sunscreen.

Behind the counter, Aurora sat curled into herself, one leg tucked beneath her as she flipped lazily through the pages of her book. Her hair was still damp from the ocean, loose curls falling around her shoulders, the ends brushing against sun-warmed skin.

She barely glanced up.

“Ror.”

The low voice came from behind her, familiar enough to pull a small smile to her lips before she even turned.

A second later, warm hands slid around her waist, steady and sure, drawing her back against a solid chest.

Cole.

“Missed me already?” she murmured, her voice soft, teasing—but she leaned into him without hesitation.

“Always,” he said, like it was obvious.

His chin brushed her shoulder as he pressed a slow kiss just below her ear, his grip tightening just slightly, like he needed her closer.

“You disappeared,” he added, voice low. “Was gone for, what—ten minutes? Thought someone finally took my girl.”

Aurora let out a quiet laugh, tilting her head instinctively to give him better access, her fingers coming up to rest lightly over his arms.

“Yeah?” she said. “And what would you have done?”

There was no pause.

His hand slid up, thumb brushing along her jaw as he gently turned her toward him.

“Found you,” Cole said, softer this time.

“Obviously.”

And the way he looked at her—

like there had never been another option—

made the rest of the world feel very, very far away.
