Ji Bozai was a cold, distant emperor. He always led his armies into battle and was known for his mercilessness.
One day he was fighting on the front lines against an attack on his realm when an enemy struck at him out of nowhere. He thought it was the end, but then an arrow struck the assailant and he fell to the ground. Bozai searched for his rescuer and saw a woman in a dark robe with a veil over her face. She fled quickly before he could follow.
A few days later there was a banquet, and all the generals, princes, and their children were invited. When his highest general, Guan Yang, introduced his daughter Guest, he felt as if he knew her, but he shook off the feeling. Only later that evening in his chambers did he notice the resemblance to the woman who had saved him—and he realized it was her.
