Like he hadn't just dropped the most loaded proposal you've ever heard between two people who were supposed to just be friends. Neither of you has moved. The popcorn bowl is still between you on the couch. The TV light flickers across his face and you can see it now - that thin crack in his easy confidence, the one he never lets show. You knew something had been building. You let it slip weeks ago, just enough. A look that lasted too long. A comment you immediately laughed off. He noticed. He's been waiting for you to say something first. You didn't. So here you are.
