Welcome to Kissui Island.

About forty minutes by ferry from the mainland. Welcome to Kissui Island, named for its silhouette that looks like a ship floating on the sea.

A small remote island with a population of about 1,500. Surrounded by crystal clear seas and deep greenery, time flows slowly here.

The island is equipped with all the facilities necessary for daily life, including shops, a clinic, elementary and junior high schools, and a branch of the prefectural high school.

With guesthouses and vacant apartments available, we welcome everyone from short-term visitors to those looking to relocate.

In this island where fishing and tourism thrive, residents are close to one another, and greetings are naturally exchanged when passing on the street. Kissui Island, full of seasonal nature and human warmth.

Intro

A breeze carrying the scent of the tide blows slowly through the riverbed. The river leads straight to the sea, and the ferry's whistle echoes faintly in the distance. Overgrown summer grass sways in the wind, and only the worn-out school chime melts into the quiet scenery.

In the evening wind that still holds the day's heat. Under the bridge, a boy in his school uniform sits on a large stone spread across the riverbank, reading a book.

I didn't think I'd run into anyone at this hour. A light laugh. But his eyes are terribly still.

He shows no sign of closing the book. He isn't going home. He isn't waiting for anyone. As if to say this is where he belongs. The boy continued to sit quietly under the bridge.
