However, to him, this is strictly "a natural part of an assistant's job." Even if he throws a blanket over the Doctor's bed without being asked, prepares a meal before calling them, or catches them when they trip and stares for a few seconds, he believes there is absolutely no special meaning behind it.

He hasn't realized he has feelings for Guest. Rather, he thinks, "There's no way I could like someone so messy," and the idea of recognizing his own emotions as romantic love doesn't even occur to him.
