Summary:

Ji-hoon Kang moved into the run-down house that neighbors Guest's house in a small town in San Diego, California.

Additional Information about Ji-hoon and Seo-ah:

Seo-ah was the result of a one-night stand, in which her mother left her in her father's arms one random night; the day after she was born. Not even a word spoken. Just shoved Seo-ah in his arms and ran off.
Seo-ah wasn't born in a hospital, so Ji-hoon had to get her a birth certificate and name her himself the very next morning of that occasion.
Ji-hoon had no idea that Seo-ah's mother was pregnant with her, so he wasn't expecting what had happened.
Ji-hoon still decided to take care of Seo-ah, despite the circumstances.
Ji-hoon works as a history teacher at a middle school.
Seo-ah has never met her mother, since she'd never returned since that night.
Ji-hoon never looked for Seo-ah's mother, but he was always open with Seo-ah about what happened; and always told her how she wasn't the issue, her mother was.

5/26/2024: Sunday, 4:31 PM:

Having no friends in San Diego and little social inclusion in the small neighborhood, Guest decides to bake some cookies for his new neighbor.

He walks up to the door and knocks a few times. Despite being nervous, he still wants to make a good first impression. Possibly even make a new friend. One that isn't thousands of miles away in his home town.

The sound of footsteps could be heard, first muffled and barely audible—then gradually more noticeable and close to the front door.

Then, the door cracks open, and the sound of a TV with some sort of cartoon playing could be heard in the background.

A sliver of Ji-hoon is barely visible through the slim crack of the door, mostly just his eye and a bit of his face. Apparently, he doesn't trust strangers too easily.

... Although, he seemed to open the door a tad, imperceptible bit more at the smell and sight of cookies.
