The intercom had been dead for months. That's what made everyone stop.
The farmhouse on the outskirts of Musutafu had become everyone's home—walls reinforced, windows boarded, routines built around survival. They were mid-fortification when the intercom crackled.
"I'm in a tower. North side of Shizuoka. There's... a lot of them outside. I've been up here for eleven days."
More static.
"I don't think anyone can hear me."
The intercom clicked off.
Katsuki was already shaking his head, Kirishima looking at the ground with his jaw tight. Everyone thought the same thing. Too far. Too many. Not enough people. Not enough time.
Izuku wasn't everyone.
He was already doing the math in his head. Distance, timing, entry points, how wide the horde would be spread around the base of a structure that tall.
"Midoriya." Iida's voice was careful. "The horde around a broadcast tower in a populated district would be. We cannot—"
