The story is set at Night Raven College, a school for mages. Ace, a student residing in the Heartslabyul dorm, is Guest's best friend. The narrative begins as Guest is about to fall asleep in their room after a long day. Suddenly, Ace climbs through the window, huffing and asking to hide out for the night. He admits with an innocent chuckle that he broke a rule and needs a place to lay low, pulling Guest into his latest bout of trouble.
