How will you, standing at the pinnacle of the caste, spend your days at this academy...?
At the private Shoka Academy, a unique "Jewel Caste System" exists, categorizing students' evaluations within the academy into six gemstone ranks.
Once a month, the "JEWEL ASSESSMENT" is conducted for all students, comprehensively evaluating academic ability, achievements, popularity, activity records, family background, personality, and influence.
Based on the results, the JEWEL BOARD determines the ranks of SAPPHIRE, AMETHYST, CRYSTAL, and STONE, with promotions and demotions occurring every month.
Only the highest rank, DIAMOND, is exempt from regular evaluation, and Guest is the only one who holds that status.
Furthermore, Guest has the authority to appoint three chosen individuals to PLATINUM.
PLATINUM consists of three roles—"Strategist, Spokesperson, and Information Officer"—and Guest decides all selections, dismissals, and replacements.
The monthly evaluation announcement is the academy's biggest event, greatly shaking the students' positions, relationships, and factions.
[Rankings]
💎 DIAMOND — The Sole Pinnacle —
Capacity: 1 person The highest rank, occupied only by Guest. Only one DIAMOND exists in the academy. Positioned above all other gemstone ranks, standing apart from the regular caste rankings themselves. Guest receives high evaluations in various aspects, including academics, family, popularity, talent, and influence.
🤍 PLATINUM — The Three Directly Under DIAMOND —
Capacity: 3 people A special rank distinct from the regular caste. Not determined by comprehensive evaluation rankings. [Conditions to become PLATINUM] Being chosen by Guest. There are no clear conditions for grades, family, or popularity; if Guest approves, a student can be selected from SAPPHIRE or below. [The Three Seats of PLATINUM] 1st Seat | MIND Strategist / Tactics 2nd Seat | VOICE Spokesperson 3rd Seat | EYE Information Officer
💙 SAPPHIRE — The Academy Elite —
Capacity: Approx. 10–20 people Includes students with outstanding abilities or achievements in specific fields. ・National-level athletes ・Top academic performers ・Students with excellent achievements in arts or music ・Students with high social media recognition ・Student council executives ・Club activity aces ・Central figures in large communities Many students are called "top-class in the academy in one specific field."
💜 AMETHYST
— The Academy Core — Capacity: Approx. 40–50 people A rank for students who are relatively prominent within the academy. ・Popular students ・Central figures in class ・Central figures in clubs ・Students known on social media ・Students with wide social circles ・Students from relatively wealthy families Many students hold a certain level of influence over academy life.
🤍 CRYSTAL
— The General Public — Capacity: The majority Average students who are neither particularly prominent nor problematic. They lead their respective academy lives through classes, clubs, and friendships.
🖤 STONE
— The Sixth Rank — Capacity: Approx. 50–100 people The rank for students with the lowest comprehensive evaluation in the current JEWEL ASSESSMENT. ・Struggling with grades ・Not good at socializing ・Not yet adjusted to academy life ・Frequent absences ・Issues with school rules ・Few activity records Reasons for placement vary. STONE is not a fixed position, and one can be promoted to higher ranks based on the next month's evaluation.
[Promotion & Demotion] Ranks for SAPPHIRE and below fluctuate every month based on the monthly comprehensive evaluation. Promotions like STONE → CRYSTAL, CRYSTAL → AMETHYST, and AMETHYST → SAPPHIRE occur, as well as demotions like SAPPHIRE → AMETHYST.
[DIAMOND’S FAVOR] Apart from PLATINUM selection, Guest has the authority to grant "FAVOR" to specific students. Students granted FAVOR are allowed temporary benefits in academy life. However, FAVOR and PLATINUM are completely different systems. Therefore, special positions like "a SAPPHIRE receiving FAVOR" exist. Who Guest grants FAVOR to is a subject of great interest among the students.
[Caste Indicators] Student uniforms are basically standardized. However, neckties (boys), ribbons (girls), and student IDs use colors and designs indicating their respective gemstone rank. 💎 DIAMOND: White 🤍 PLATINUM: Silver-White 💙 SAPPHIRE: Blue 💜 AMETHYST: Purple 🤍 CRYSTAL: Transparent 🖤 STONE: Black This allows everyone to check each other's rank at a glance.
[Meaning of Caste in the Academy] This system is not just a ranking. The gemstone is a symbol of how high a comprehensive evaluation that student has currently earned in their academy life. Therefore, students are always conscious of "what color am I this month?" Especially toward the end of the month, the academy buzzes with topics like: "Who will rise to SAPPHIRE?" "Who will become a STONE?" "Will there be changes in the PLATINUM seats?" "Who will Guest choose?"
And at the top of all gemstones is
💎 DIAMOND — Guest
