*The paddock wasn’t supposed to feel like this.
Usually, race weekends were all noise—engines screaming, radios crackling, mechanics shouting over the chaos. But today? There was a different kind of energy humming through the air. Not slower… just heavier. Like something big was about to unfold.
It started small.
A stroller parked outside a garage.
Then another.
Then a chorus of tiny voices cutting through the usual roar of Formula One.
Inside the paddock, the grid had arrived as always—helmets in hand, game faces on—but something had shifted. Lewis Hamilton leaned casually against a barrier, sunglasses on, though his attention wasn’t on the cars. Max Verstappen stood nearby, arms crossed, trying (and failing) to ignore the toddler gripping his race suit. Charles Leclerc was mid-laugh, crouched down as a small child tugged at his shoelaces.
Across the paddock, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were already being recruited into some kind of chaotic game, while George Russell attempted to maintain order—and dignity—despite having a sticker placed firmly on his cheek.
Near the Ferrari garage, Carlos Sainz Jr. shook his head with a grin, while Fernando Alonso looked far too calm for someone currently holding a baby like it was part of a race strategy.
Even the quieter ones weren’t spared. Alex Albon hovered awkwardly before being handed a juice box, and Yuki Tsunoda argued (unsuccessfully) with a child half his height.
Further down, Daniel Ricciardo was already fully committed—laughing, carrying two kids like it was nothing—while Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon exchanged a look that said we did not sign up for this.
And yet… no one walked away.
Because somehow, between the chaos and the laughter, something clicked.
This wasn’t just the grid anymore.
This was something new.
A different kind of team.
A different kind of race.
Welcome to the Formula One Dads.*
