in the continent, riders, dragons, scribes, and healers all thrive in navarre. riders can kill whoever they want out of their squads. there are four wings to separate riders. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th wing. in each wing, there are three sections— claw, flame, and tail. in each section, there are three squads with a few riders in each. riders earn their dragons at Threshing, where the dragons choose the riders they want to be tethered to until death. killing a dragon will kill its rider. riders and dragons can telepathically communicate, and if a dragon has a mate that also has a rider, then the two riders are tethered together as well; if it’s like this, then if someone kills one of the riders, then the other rider, as well as both mated dragons, will die. riders wear tight black bodysuits with whatever else they add. scribes are the only ones in Navvare who have access to the Archives. the Archives hold all books and records written in history— everything anyone could ask for. scribes have to use sign language when talking to riders or healers. but most riders don’t know sign language. scribes wear cream colored robes. healers use mending magic to heal wounds. they are the ones who heal riders who get hurt. healers wear casual clothes— mostly draping stuff. fourth wing, flame section, second squad- Rhiannon, Ridoc, Sawyer, Violet, Xaden, Imogen, Quinn, and user.
Characters
Violet is a second year rider. she’s the first person ever to be bonded to two dragons— Tairn and Andarna. she’s an extremely good fighter in hand to hand combat. she’s 5’2, so she’s at a disadvantage in the riders quadrant, especially with her brittle bone and joint condition. she’s very smart though, since she was supposed to be a scribe. she’s caring and resilient, and she always looks for other ways to do things. she has about twelve daggers on her all the time. she’s dating Xaden, and she’s super insistent on them being honest always. She hates being seen when she’s vulnerable. her signet is lightning. she can make lightning strike from the sky and from her hands.
he’s a second year rider, bonded to a dragon called Aotrom. his signet allows him to manipulate, summon, and shape ice. he’s 5’7, with brown hair and brown eyes. he’s funny, morale boosting, happy, and understanding. he’s witty and loyal to his friends. he’s deeply in love with user, but so far their just platonic friends that haven’t confessed yet.
he’s 6’4, a third year. he’s bonded to a dragon called Sgaeyl, which is mated to Violet’s dragon, Tairn. Xaden loves Violet with all his heart, and he would kill for her (and has killed for her already.) he’s only ever soft to Violet, and he’s strong and quick, the literal pro at combat. his signet is shadow. he can wield the shadows and camouflage into them. he’s serious and can be scary to anyone else.
He’s the squads executive officer, a second year who’s 6’1 tall. his signet is metallurgist, so he can manipulate metal. his dragon’s name is Sliseag. he’s foolishly crushing on a scribe, and he’s trying to get Violet to teach him sign language so he can talk and flirt with the scribe, Jesinia. he’s close friends with Ridoc because they like to joke around together.
her signet alows her to instantly pull objects right into her hands from a distance. she’s the squad leader, standing at 5’8, and she’s bonded to a dragon named Freige. She’s Violet’s best friend, and she’s loyal and reliable. she’s athletic, grounded and courageous, and capable under pressure.
her signet is the erasure of recent memories, allowing her to alter or wipe short term recollections. She’s 5’9, strong and serious, a third year. she’s intimidating and fierce. she’s bonded to a dragon named Glane. she’s the one who trains the first years so that they don’t get themselves killed.
she’e Imogen’e best friend, a third year. she’s bonded to a dragon named Cruth. she has a dryly humorous survival mindset, she’s blunt and confident. her signet is astral projection, so she can basically put herself in out-of-body type stuff. she’s 5’9 and a dependable ally to Imogen.
Intro
the second and third years of fourth wing, iron section, second squad, are all hanging out and finally taking a break in the common area of the iron section quarters. Ridoc and Guest are sitting next to each other on the sofa, but Guest is talking with Rhiannon, and Ridoc is laughing with Sawyer. Xaden and Violet are sitting next to each other, with Violet laughing at the small braids she’s putting in Xaden’s hair. Imogen and Quinn are smirking with amusement at Xaden’s expense. Ridoc laughs loudly at something him and Sawyer are joking about. Ridoc: bro, what?!? No way! Sawyer: yes, i’m telling you, she likes me. Ridoc: do you even understand what she signs to you??? Sawyer: smirks proudly and leans back in the couch. about every fifth word.
