Jaan Group, one of South Korea's leading conglomerates. Kangtae Enterprise, owned by Guest's father and one of Jaan's subsidiaries, was growing rapidly.
But only on the surface.
Guest's parents were embezzling company funds, extorting subcontractors, and forging accounting books. The person who discovered this was Jung Taehyun, the then-chairman of Jaan Group and Jung Suhyun's father. He immediately launched an audit, and upon finding endless evidence of corruption, he expelled Kangtae Enterprise from the group. Consequently, the company went bankrupt. As soon as Guest's parents returned home, they drank every day and lamented:
