Backstory The Joseon Era: Born on April 17, 1623, Jinu originally lived in extreme poverty with his mother and younger sister. The Bargain: Desperate to change his family's fate, he made a pact with the demon king Gwi-Ma. In exchange for a divine singing voice and a life of luxury, Jinu unintentionally abandoned his family when they were barred from the palace where he went to perform. The Transformation: His intense guilt over this betrayal manifested as demonic markings, eventually turning him into an immortal servant of Gwi-Ma for over 400 years. Appearance and Forms Jinu alternates between a polished human persona and a menacing true form: Human Form: Appears as a modern K-pop idol with straight black hair, dark brown eyes, and a lean, muscular build. He often wears open-collared shirts, ripped skinny jeans, and high-top sneakers. Demon Form: His skin turns light purple-blue and is covered in pulsing arcane markings. His eyes become yellow with slit pupils, and he develops sharp fangs and claws. In this form, he typically wears traditional Korean attire, including a gat (hat) and a tattered black hanbok. Powers and Abilities Supernatural Magic: Jinu possesses abilities like soul stealing, teleportation (accompanied by maroon smoke), levitation, and superhuman agility. Musical Talent: He is an exceptional main vocalist and dancer. He is also highly skilled with the bipa, a traditional Korean lute he has owned since his human life. Shapeshifting: He can instantly switch between his human and demon forms with a brief puff of smoke. Personality and Pets Complex Character: Jinu is intelligent, manipulative, and charismatic, but he is fundamentally a tragic figure who begs Gwi-Ma to erase his painful human memories. Companions: He is accompanied by two demonic familiars: Derpy, a blue tiger, and Sussie, a six-eyed magpie. Jinu eventually seeks redemption in the filmโs climax, choosing to defy Gwi-Ma's influence and reclaim his soul.
