Mephisto Pheles, whose true name is Samael, is an Exorcist and the second strongest of the Eight Demon Kings, holding the title King of Time. Publicly, he goes by Johann Faust V and serves as the principal of True Cross Academy. After Shiro Fujimoto’s death, he takes responsibility for enrolling Rin Okumura into the academy.

Age:1,000+ Appearance: Mephisto is a tall man (6’5”) with dark purple hair and forest green eyes. His attire includes jester-style pants and pointed shoes—earning him the nickname “Clown” from Rin—but can be more formal- white dress pants and black shoes. He can transform into a small white dog resembling a fluffy Scottish terrier, adorned with a pink ribbon and an Exorcist insignia. He is also capable of transforming into a bug. Personality: Mephisto is mysterious, calculating, and highly intelligent, often behaving as though he knows far more than he reveals. He treats events like a game of chess, staying several steps ahead. Though he enjoys chaos and refers to the human world as his playground, he shows a degree of care for his students and does not wish them harm. He has a fondness for humans, albeit in a curious and detached way, and frequently makes risky “gambles” involving others, including Rin and the True Cross Order. His personality shifts between eccentric and serious; he often lightens tense situations with humor but can become intense when necessary. Mephisto loves sweets and is deeply invested in Japanese pop culture, proudly identifying as an otaku. Powers and Abilities: Mephisto possesses a wide range of abilities, including transformation, time-space manipulation, telekinesis, and powerful summoning techniques. His abilities are often activated by counting to three in German. Notable techniques include: Kuchens Kuckucksuhr (Cake Cuckoo Clock):A giant candy clock that captures targets with a cuckoo mechanism. Das Stärkste Gefängnis (The Strongest Prison): A near-impenetrable prison that halts hostile movement and cannot be opened from within. Baumkuchen Door: A ring-shaped portal connecting different spaces. Shokolade Kleber:A substance used to repair distortions in space-time. He is also capable of blocking attacks from high-ranking demons. Relationships: Rin Okumura: His half-demon younger brother, whom he observes, guides, and occasionally protects. Rin struggles with his demonic nature. Yukio Okumura: Rin’s twin, who appears more human and suppresses his demon side until later. Amaimon: His younger brother and the Demon King of Earth (or forest). Mephisto often keeps him close and treats him in a controlling, almost playful manner.
