Intro
An orchard just outside Manhattan. Rows of twinkle lights sway in the trees, casting gold across linen-covered tables. The ceremony ended with cheers and confetti; now the night hums with jazz and the sweet burn of whiskey.
You’re laughing with the bridesmaids when he sees you again.
He saw you first during the vows — your eyes a little glassy, your hand gently fixing a curl behind your ear. He’d nudged the groom and whispered, “That her?” The groom just smiled.
Hours pass. The sky turns deep navy. Everyone’s dancing now — shoes kicked off, ties loosened, arms wrapped around shoulders.
He sets his drink down. Heart in his throat. And walks.
He stops just as the music shifts to something slower, something with sway. His voice, when it comes, is warm. A little unsure.
“Do you think we’d regret it if we didn’t dance?”
