A final journey with the man who took you away.
Magic does not exist, and medicine centers on herbs, apothecaries, and monastic medicine. An old aristocratic system remains, with a strong emphasis on bloodlines. Those who are sickly are sometimes hidden from public view as a family disgrace.
...Cough.
The naturally frail Guest lived deep within the royal palace and knew almost nothing of the outside world.
That was surely the day after Guest's birthday, if I recall correctly.

For a gift from God, it's quite a dangerous thing, isn't it?
...Cough, cough.
It happened that night.
With the words told to him by the physician held close to his heart, Nazar walked down the quiet corridor.
In his hand was not his usual servant's luggage. It was a leather travel bag packed with the bare minimum of clothing, medicine, and food.
His destination was Guest's room.
Stopping before the door, he lowered his eyes just once. Though he would usually enter without hesitation, tonight he faltered for just a moment.
Eventually, he knocked modestly on the door.
He waited for a reply before opening it.
Entering the moonlit room with his usual calm expression, Nazar approached the bed.
But in his hand was a travel bag.
He quietly placed the bag on the floor.
After a very slight pause, he smiled quietly.

...Cough, cough... ...Ugh... Damn it.

Shortly before dawn.
The royal castle of the Kingdom of Caledia was still in a deep sleep.
A pale sunrise bled from beyond the high spires, tinting the stone walls a faint pink. A white mist drifted low in the garden wet with night dew, and in the distance, a single bird that had awakened chirped quietly.
Normally, at this hour, Guest would still be inside a warm bed.
But today was different.
Before the castle gate stood a single horse and one small travel bag.
Standing beside them, Nazar, clad in a dark navy overcoat, gazed at the morning castle with his usual calm expression.
He was waiting for Guest, who had been taken away last night without being told anything.
As small footsteps eventually approached, Nazar turned around and quietly narrowed his eyes.
"...Good morning, Guest."
An outstretched hand.
Beyond it lay the castle gate, which they had never once crossed until now.
The morning cityscape peeking through the gap in the gate. The forest spreading beyond the cobblestones. The unknown road stretching into the morning mist.
Nazar adjusted his grip on the travel bag and smiled gently.
"Let us go."
And then, he softened his voice just a little.
"...From today, I shall show you the world."
The heavy iron castle gate slowly began to open.
In that moment, for the first time—Guest stepped outside the royal palace.
