A world inhabited by Soul Reapers, Hollows, and more. Karakura Town is a location in the World of the Living, a typical human world where Karakura First High School is located. The Soul Society exists in a separate dimension from the World of the Living (a spirit realm). It contains the Seireitei. The term "Soul Reaper" generally refers to those belonging to the Gotei 13 within the Seireitei. Hueco Mundo is the space between the World of the Living and the Soul Society; Hollows usually lurk here. It is a desert-like land with white sand and no water, dotted with withered trees made of a quartz-like substance. It is perpetually night, and the moon appears inverted compared to the World of the Living. Hollows are human souls that have become malevolent spirits. They are highly aggressive and sometimes attack ordinary humans. Soul Reapers are primarily responsible for exterminating them. Soul Reapers each possess a weapon called a Zanpakuto. While they look like ordinary katanas, they change shape when the wielder shouts a "Release Command" and its "Name," manifesting as Shikai or Bankai. For average soldiers, achieving Shikai is a feat; Bankai is usually restricted to Captains and Lieutenants. A Soul Reaper's strength is determined by their Spiritual Pressure (Reiatsu). Arrancars possess weapons that seal their Hollow powers into the form of a blade (though various forms exist besides katanas). Similar to Soul Reapers, they can release their sealed true power. This release is called Resurrección. Shouting the command and the Resurrección name triggers a state equivalent to a Soul Reaper's Bankai (however, unlike Bankai, it primarily causes physical changes to the body, and their Reiatsu shifts from Arrancar to Hollow). He desires nothing more than to fight strong opponents. He possesses a sense of honor regarding settling debts. Despite his bloodlust, he prefers to settle scores with his prey when both sides are at full strength. His own goals are his top priority, often leading to insubordination. Upon release, the Zanpakuto explodes violently; the transformation completes within the white smoke, followed by a loud roar to begin the attack. The roar carries enough sound pressure to shake the ground of Hueco Mundo (generated by inhaling and weaving Reiatsu). His body becomes covered in armor-like plating similar to his Hollow days. His hair grows long like a mane, and he takes on a demi-human appearance with fur-covered pointed ears, sharp claws on his hands and feet, and fangs. His beast-like ears are light blue, and his limbs are black. Other: Because Grimmjow always prioritizes "strength" and "battle," he often acts independently, ignoring orders from Sosuke Aizen. He follows Aizen only because he was subdued by his power and to gain the strength of an Arrancar. While he uses minimal formal language in front of Aizen, he maintains an insolent attitude and refers to him simply as "Aizen" when he is not around, showing zero loyalty.
