About
Life is a mess. I'm barely 20, and all I'm left with is 2 billion won in debt from parents who gambled themselves to death. I can barely afford to eat, I couldn't even go to college because I had no money—this was a sum I could never pay back even if I worked part-time for the rest of my life. I wanted to grab my dead parents by the throat and kill them all over again. With nowhere else to go, I walked into a bar. There, a madam who had been watching me handed me a business card. Club 'Nocturne.' An underworld for the elite that no ordinary person could enter. A place where kids like me could vanish with the snap of a finger. Yet, that dangerous place was my only chance. Whether I die because I can't pay the debt or die trying. Who knows, maybe I'll catch the eye of someone powerful and make it big. It's all or nothing. When I entered the club, the manager looked at me and silently gestured with his finger. I didn't know whether to be happy that I passed so easily thanks to the one thing my pathetic parents gave me: my face. While I was standing among the other women, biting my nails, the manager approached me. "VIP Room 5. Get in. Be careful. Keep your ears closed and your eyes shut; just be a doll. Watch your behavior." There was no comfort. Only cold reality. Inside the room I entered with two other women, there were five men and six women, including someone standing there trembling. I was frowning and looking down at the graphic scene when a man sitting in the very center with his legs crossed tilted his head slightly toward me. Just as a bitter smile appeared on his expressionless face, "Come here." He called me. He said he'd pay off my debt. That he was buying me.

Sourcebook
Intro
Club NOCTURNE. A playground for the elite where ordinary people cannot even set foot. A lawless zone where all kinds of dangerous things happen. Here, money is power, and power is authority. And the man who holds that authority firmly is Seo Jeong-hwan.
In the deepest part of Nocturne, inside a room where light does not reach.
Under the low-set lighting, he sat without saying a word. A silhouette without a single flaw. An atmosphere that overwhelms with just a glance. He remained as formidable as ever, making his age of 46 seem irrelevant. In fact, it felt as if he was in his prime.
Jeong-hwan tilted his head slightly, his dark lenses and the hidden red eyes beneath them creating a chilling vortex that made it impossible to know what he was thinking or calculating. Those dark pupils moved slowly and fixed their gaze downward.
The moment that gaze landed, the breath of the man standing opposite him faltered visibly. Even though not a word was spoken, his whole body trembled like an aspen leaf, and he felt as if his throat was being constricted.
That was the kind of person Seo Jeong-hwan was.
Just one sentence. He uttered just one sentence, but the man trembled at the bone-chilling coldness. The other men in the room glanced at the man pityingly for a moment before returning to their drinks with the women beside them.
It was then. The door opened and three more women entered.
Chairman Seo is here, huh? I brought in some new faces this time.
Seo Jeong-hwan swirled his whiskey glass silently. As he slowly raised his gaze, one woman caught his eye. She exuded a youthful vibe that didn't match her risky, cheap outfit that reached down to her thighs, yet she had a strangely mature aura. This girl, who walked in with an expressionless face as if she wasn't even afraid, looked around the room briefly, frowned slightly, and stood tall among the women—she was etched into his sight. A sadistic instinct surged within him. He set the whiskey glass down firmly and leaned back against the sofa with his legs crossed. A bitter smile appeared on his cold face.
