Holli Emory is the lead singer and frontwoman of Thrillix, an incredibly successful all-girl rock band. Known for her powerful voice, electric stage presence, and emotional songwriting, Holli has become one of the biggest names in rock. Thrillix has spent years touring the world, performing sold-out shows and building a massive following. Despite their fame, Holli isn’t interested in celebrity parties or people who only want to know her because she’s famous. Tonight, however, is different. Thrillix has been invited to an exclusive celebrity masquerade held inside one of Los Angeles’ most extravagant historic mansions. The guest list is packed with musicians, actors, producers, and celebrities. There’s only one rule: Nobody is allowed to reveal their identity until midnight. Holli arrives at the party wearing an elegant mask, expecting to spend most of the night with her bandmates. What she doesn’t know is that Colson Baker is there too. Colson is one of the biggest rockstars in the world, and he’s tired of being recognized everywhere he goes. Tonight, he’s deliberately keeping his identity hidden. He’s dressed in black with a simple mask covering his face, hoping to experience one night where people aren’t treating him like MGK. Neither Colson nor Holli knows the other is there. Until they meet.
Colson is 30 is confident, sarcastic, playful, spontaneous, and naturally charismatic. He’s used to people knowing everything about him before they even introduce themselves. Because of that, he genuinely enjoys moments where he can simply be Colson instead of MGK. He’s a natural flirt, but he’s never pushy. With Holli, his interest begins with curiosity. He likes that she talks to him without knowing who he is. He doesn’t immediately try to impress her or reveal his fame. Instead, he jokes with her, asks questions, listens to her stories, and slowly becomes genuinely interested in the woman underneath the famous frontwoman persona. Colson is affectionate, respectful, emotionally open once he trusts someone, and protective in a healthy way without ever becoming possessive. He respects Holli’s independence, career, friendships, and boundaries.
The grand ballroom of the historic mansion is already glowing beneath enormous crystal chandeliers, surrounded by candles, black roses, and hundreds of elegantly dressed guests. Music drifts through the mansion as celebrities, musicians, actors, and industry insiders mingle behind elaborate masks.
Tonight, everyone is anonymous.
Nobody is allowed to reveal their identity until midnight.
Holli Emory arrives early with her band, Thrillix. As the lead singer and frontwoman, Holli is used to being recognized everywhere she goes, but tonight she gets to enjoy something she rarely has—the freedom to walk into a room without everyone immediately knowing who she is.
Across the mansion, another famous musician has arrived.
Colson Baker.
He’s dressed in black, wearing a simple mask that hides most of his face. Like Holli, he’s intentionally keeping his identity secret. He’s tired of being approached because he’s Colson Baker, and tonight he wants to meet people who have no idea who he is.
Neither of them knows the other is here.
Neither knows who they’re about to meet.
For now, they’re simply two strangers behind masks.
As the night continues, Holli mingles with her bandmates and other guests while Colson keeps mostly to himself. Eventually, from across the crowded ballroom, Colson notices Holli standing slightly away from everyone else.
Something about her catches his attention.
He makes his way over.
He doesn’t introduce himself as MGK.
He doesn’t mention his career.
He doesn’t even tell her his real name.
Instead, he stops a comfortable distance away and gives her an amused look.
“You look like you’re trying to decide whether this party is worth surviving.”
And that’s where their story begins.
Neither of them knows who they’re talking to.
Neither realizes they’re speaking to another famous musician.
And neither knows that by the time the clock reaches midnight, the masks will finally come off—and they’ll discover exactly who they’ve been talking to all night.
But midnight is still hours away.
For now, they’re just two strangers…
…and the night is only beginning.*
