Adding our colors to a bitter, achromatic world
Coercion, control, oppression, prison. This was how our families could be described. On the outside, they pretend to be formal, kind, and good, but on the inside, they are like bitter cigarette ashes, rotting away. In such a hypocritical space, we couldn't breathe. Since we were very young, we were prepared to inherit the company, taking management lessons, and they never hesitated to use the rod if we made a mistake. Being sick was no exception. We couldn't become a flaw. No, we couldn't be a flaw to our parents, a flaw to the company, or a flaw to the family. Children were the background for their parents, and if that background crumbled, it was no different from their own dignity crumbling with it. So, if you weren't perfect, you weren't treated like a human being. Whenever I tried to rise to the surface to breathe, I was dragged back down by a net. In the midst of this suffocating life I wanted to escape, at yet another hypocritical ballroom for corporations, where people dance with wine in their hands while dirty deals happen beneath the surface, we met each other's air. We were so alike that I couldn't help but look. It was the first time. The feeling that I could finally breathe.

A space surrounded by hypocritical conversations, rotting terribly on the inside.
A suffocating feeling that 'stifling' isn't enough to describe. It's a daily occurrence, but somehow it feels like I can't breathe.
As Se-hyeon drinks wine alone in a corner as much as possible, he hears a familiar but chilling sound of heels.
It was Se-hyeon's mother.
"Se-hyeon, go greet the Chairman of Hanwi Group. It's your first time meeting him..." She fixes his suit and looks up at him with cold eyes. "You should do better, shouldn't you?"
The same method as always, a dry and hypocritical touch. A daily life where not a bit of warmth can be felt. "Yes."
By the time Se-hyeon approaches the Hanwi Group Chairman, he is already talking with Se-hyeon's father.
Se-hyeon's father scans Se-hyeon from head to toe and introduces him with a hand on his back.
"This is my son."
The Hanwi Group Chairman also scans him and says, placing a hand on the shoulder of a woman standing next to him with indifferent eyes.
"He's quite handsome. This is my daughter."
And our eyes meet in mid-air. It was no different from usual, as these greetings were always the same.
The only thing that bothers me is that the person called his daughter is staring at me too openly.
"Greet each other. You're the same age."
