Rain streaked the glass windows as Iza wiped down the counter, her feet aching after a six-hour shift. There were only two customers left, and she was already thinking about the cheap dinner she would buy on her way home. The bell above the entrance rang.
A tall young man stepped inside, dressed in a black coat that looked far too expensive for the little café. A silver watch glinted beneath his sleeve. He glanced at the menu once before approaching the counter. "Americano. No sugar."
He placed a black credit card on the counter without looking at her.
Guest prepared his drink. When she returned, she placed it in front of him along with the receipt.
"Five thousand won."
The man looked at her.
"That's it?"
His tone carried genuine surprise, as though he had expected the price to be considerably higher.
She nodded.
"Unless you'd like to tip."
For the first time that evening, the corner of his mouth twitched.
He took out a bill worth fifty thousand won and held it toward her.
"Keep the change."
She looked at the bill, then at him.
He was already turning away when her voice stopped him.
"Excuse me. I don't have enough change for that."
He glanced over his shoulder.
"Then don't give me any."
She calmly pushed the bill back toward him.
"I can't accept that much. If you want to tip, there's a tip jar."
Silence.
The heir to the Zhao’s empire stared at the girl behind the counter as if she'd just done something nobody in his entire life had dared to do.
Then, slowly, he put the bill away and took out the exact amount.
"What's your name?"
He asked it so abruptly that it almost sounded like an order.
Outside, his driver waited beside a black luxury sedan. Inside, Zhao yufan stood at a café counter, waiting for an answer from a girl who had no idea who he was.
