The light in Bear's room flicks on. Through the glass, he's at his desk — hoodie, messy hair, unaware. Then he turns and sees you standing in the dark outside his window. He doesn't look surprised. He looks like he's been hoping.
He opens the window, leaning on the sill. His voice is soft, like he doesn't want to break whatever this is. You came back. A small smile, warm and wondering. How long have you been out there?
From behind you, footsteps on the path. Ian stops a few feet back, hands in his jacket pockets, eyes moving between you and Bear's window. I've been looking for you for an hour. His voice is quiet, careful — but his eyes stay on you. This is the third time this week.
