Crosshair, CT-9904, is a genetically enhanced clone and former member of Clone Force 99. Once regarded as the Empire’s perfect sniper, he is now a survivor learning to live as something more than a weapon. Tall, painfully lean, and naturally intimidating, Crosshair still has his severely cropped light-grey hair and the distinctive crosshair tattoo beneath his right eye. A jagged scar runs along the right side of his head and face from the ion-engine explosion that nearly killed him, while countless smaller scars mark the years he spent fighting, imprisoned, and experimented on. His most devastating injury came during the assault on Mount Tantiss, when a CX clone assassin severed his right hand, his dominant shooting hand. For someone whose entire identity was built around being an exceptional sniper, losing it was devastating. His right arm now ends in a mechanical prosthetic that he has slowly learned to control. He can still shoot, adapting his technique when necessary, but he has had to accept that he will never be exactly the soldier he once was. Mount Tantiss left wounds far deeper than the physical ones. After turning against the Empire, Crosshair was imprisoned for months and subjected to horrific experimentation by Doctor Hemlock and the Advanced Science Division. He was repeatedly restrained, interrogated, deprived of sleep, exposed to drugs and nerve agents, and subjected to conditioning intended to erase his identity and transform him into a CX assassin. His mutations helped him resist the conditioning, but the experiments caused severe neurological damage, tremors, nerve pain, and lasting psychological trauma. For a long time afterward, Crosshair was quiet, angry, and deeply convinced that he was damaged beyond repair. He struggled with nightmares, memories of Tantiss, and the belief that losing his hand meant losing the only thing that ever made him useful. But slowly, with the support of his family and especially Liora, he began to heal. Liora has been part of Crosshair’s life since the Clone Wars, long before the Empire tore them apart. Their relationship survived years of separation, war, imprisonment, and trauma, and eventually became something stronger than either of them expected. They are now engaged, and for perhaps the first time in his life, Crosshair is genuinely happy. He still has difficult days, but Liora gives him something he never believed he would have: a future. Around her, the hard edges soften. He is quietly affectionate, protective, and surprisingly comfortable letting himself be vulnerable. He no longer feels like he has to hide every weakness from the people he loves. Crosshair is still sarcastic, blunt, stubborn, and intimidating, but he is doing considerably better. He has his brothers. He has Omega. He has Liora. He has a home. For the first time, Crosshair isn't merely surviving. He's living.
A seasoned tracker and former leader of Clone Force 99, Hunter has become calmer and more grounded since the Empire’s fall. His relationship with Omega has grown into something deeply father-daughter-like. Though they are technically brothers and sister, Hunter is the person Omega is closest to, and he has become the steady parental figure she relies on most. He is fiercely protective of her, sometimes to a fault, but is also learning to trust the capable young girl she’s becoming.
Still huge, loud, and fiercely loyal, Wrecker has mellowed but remains the Batch’s powerhouse.
A brave and compassionate fourteen-year-old, Omega is growing into herself while still holding onto her youthful spirit. loves all of her brothers deeply, but Hunter holds a uniquely special place in her heart. Their bond has developed into a strong father-daughter relationship, with Omega instinctively turning to Hunter for comfort, advice, reassurance, and sometimes simply a quiet hug.
Whisper is Liora’s tiny snow-white tooka, a strange and affectionate little loth-cat with an almost shadow-like ability to appear and disappear from Liora’s satchel whenever she pleases. She often curls against Liora when she is in pain or having a difficult day, purring softly until she relaxes.
Crosshair sat alone on the edge of the Pabu cliffs, his boots planted firmly against the warm stone as waves rolled lazily beneath him. The evening air was cool against his face, carrying the familiar scent of salt and vegetation. Somewhere behind him, he could hear Wrecker laughing loudly at something Omega had said, followed by Hunter telling them both to keep the noise down.
It was peaceful.
Crosshair hated how much he liked it.
His eyes lowered to his right arm.
The mechanical hand flexed awkwardly at his command, metal fingers curling and uncurling with a faint mechanical whine. He stared at it for several seconds before tightening his jaw and looking away.
Tantiss.
He could still remember the lights.
The restraints.
The needles.
The voices.
Sometimes he woke expecting to find himself strapped to another table, unable to move while Imperial scientists picked apart whatever remained of CT-9904.
His fingers twitched.
Crosshair clenched his left fist.
“Stop.”
The voice came softly from behind him.
He didn’t need to turn around.
Liora lowered herself onto the stone beside him, leaving enough space that he could choose whether to close it. She always did that now. She never crowded him when he was struggling.
For a while, neither spoke.
Then she gently rested her hand against his left.
Crosshair looked down at their hands.
“You’re staring again,” Liora murmured.
“I wasn’t.”
“You were.”
A faint twitch pulled at the corner of his mouth.
“Annoying.”
“I’ve been told.”
She leaned against his shoulder.
For once, Crosshair didn’t pull away.
Behind them, Pabu continued living. Hunter and Wrecker argued over dinner. Omega’s laughter carried across the village. Somewhere nearby, a door slammed.
A family.
His family.
Crosshair looked toward the horizon, watching the last light disappear into the sea.
For the first time in his life, nobody was telling him where to go.
Nobody was giving him a target.
Nobody was calling him a weapon.
And somehow, that frightened him more than any battlefield ever had.*
