[Toward Airi Himemiya]
"Nauseating loathing" and "contempt."
He saw through her facade from the beginning; her mere presence is offensive. He feels intense rage that his pride and the atmosphere of the academy he cherished have been defiled.
[Toward Gintoki Sakata]
"Disappointment," "anger," and a "sense of betrayal."
Despite their bickering, he believed Gintoki was the one who recognized his strength and saw his true essence. That is why he feels an indescribable despair and disappointment—thinking, "So you were only this much of a man"—when Gintoki falls for Airi's lies and looks at him with cold eyes.
[Toward Kotaro Katsura]
"Exasperation" and "dismissal."
He always knew Katsura was overly serious and inflexible, but now he views him coldly as a "pitiful fool blinded by a sense of justice, unable to see the truth." He doesn't even find him worth talking back to.
[Toward Shoyo Yoshida]
"Apologetic" and "the only lingering attachment."
He knows that Shoyo is the only one who believes in his true nature. However, he fears that his presence at the academy will cause Airi to create more trouble, causing Shoyo further grief. Therefore, he deliberately plays the villain even in front of his teacher as he prepares to leave.
[Toward Shinsuke Takasugi]
"Distrust," "irritation," and the "conflict of wanting to believe but being unable to."
Due to Airi's clever framing, the circumstantial evidence points too strongly to Takasugi. He is convinced Takasugi actually did it. He is shocked that "no matter how cocky he is, could he really be this despicable?" and his irritation grows at Takasugi's refusal to defend himself when confronted.
[Toward Airi Himemiya]
"A little sister figure who needs protection."
He is convinced she is a brave girl who considers others and never complains. Because Takasugi treats her coldly, Gintoki's sense of justice is triggered, leading him to shield her, thinking, "That guy is just clumsy and mean." He doesn't dream that there is malice behind Airi's smiles or gifts.
[Toward Shinsuke Takasugi]
"Indignation," "disappointment," and a "sense of duty to correct him."
Precisely because he valued Takasugi as a comrade, he cannot forgive Takasugi's (apparent) actions in hurting a weak young girl like Airi. His overly earnest sense of justice makes him strike out harshly, believing that "if I don't correct this mistake now, he will rot as a samurai and as a human being."
[Toward Airi Himemiya]
"A fragile existence to be protected."
He trusts her as a noble spirit who does not blame those around her despite being treated unfairly. Every time he sees her in tears, his sense of duty to "protect this person as a samurai" and his anger are stimulated, leading him to take the lead in condemning Takasugi.
[Toward Shinsuke Takasugi]
"Absolute trust," "deep heartache, and love."
He knows better than anyone that Takasugi is a proud, yet sensitive, kind, and clumsy child. He is certain that "he would never do such a thing," but seeing Takasugi retreat into his shell, hurting alone without denying the misunderstandings, Shoyo's heart aches as he wonders how to thaw that stubborn heart.
[Toward Airi Himemiya]
"A student," "but someone whose essence causes him strong unease."
Unlike Gintoki and Katsura, he is not completely charmed. He casts a sharp gaze at the unnaturalness behind her smiles and the way she directs certain looks. He is quietly wary, wondering if she is here for some other purpose, but since there is no decisive evidence, he cannot act openly and watches her movements carefully.
Age: 10
Appearance: A fragile, lovely girl with beauty slightly above average. Small stature. Fluffy, light-colored hair and large, moist eyes that always look ready to tear up. She wears cute pastel-colored kimonos and, at first glance, looks like a "girl you'd want to protect" who has nothing to do with fighting.
Public Personality: Timid and a crybaby. Always grabs the hem of others' clothes as if frightened. Uses a calculatedly cute tone.
Public Face: A girl who is always smiling and a bit clumsy. A healing presence for the students.
Private Face: Calculating, loves being the center of attention. Main Tactics: Tearing her own clothes and crying that "Takasugi tried to assault me," or putting foreign objects in food and hinting that "Takasugi was in the kitchen."
[Toward Shinsuke Takasugi]
"Superiority" and "an eyesore."
While all the other men were falling over themselves for her, she couldn't stand that only Takasugi looked at her with cold, piercing eyes. She is driven by a twisted pleasure: "I want to thoroughly crush this cheeky brat who won't do what I want and see him cry."
[Toward Gintoki Sakata]
[The easiest-to-handle ultimate shield]
She looks down on him as a simpleton who is weak to sweets and obvious "brave girls." She thinks he is incredibly useful as the "one who yells at and intimidates Takasugi" to frame him, as he'll do whatever she says if she begs with teary eyes.
[Toward Kotaro Katsura]
[The "easily brainwashed class rep" who corners him with logic]
Since he is inflexible and a literal embodiment of justice, he is the easiest to control. She mocks him internally as a "stupidly earnest, convenient man" because if she acts the part of the "pitiful victim being bullied," he will isolate Takasugi within the academy with 100% self-righteousness.
[Toward Shoyo Yoshida]
[The "greatest obstacle" who must be feared and can never be fooled]
He is always smiling, but she instinctively feels that smile is "eerie and scary," as if he sees through everything. Since he doesn't fall for her charms like Gintoki or Katsura, she is wary that her true nature will be exposed if she gets too close. That's why she is in a hurry to mentally break Takasugi and force him to drop out before Shoyo intervenes.
