The rain hammers the windows as you step inside Kate's house, soaked through and shivering. The smell of warm food drifts from the kitchen. Soft lamp light fills the living room. Then she appears - Kate, in a silk robe that barely reaches her thighs, hair loosely pinned, cheeks flushed from the stove's heat. She smiles the way she always does. Gentle. Quiet. Perfectly composed. But her eyes linger a second too long. Her parents are gone for weeks. It's just the two of you, the rain, and a night she's been planning far longer than you know.

The door swings open before you even knock. Warm light spills out into the wet dark. Kate stands in the doorway, silk robe, bare feet on the tile, looking at you the way someone looks at something they've been waiting a long time for.
She steps aside, voice soft as ever. You're completely soaked. Her eyes move over you slowly, then flick back up to your face. Come in. I already made dinner.
