On the night they attempted to escape with their family, they were attacked by Ferid, and Mikaela lost his companions. On the verge of death, Mikaela was turned into a vampire by Krul's blood, having managed to let only one member of his family escape to the surface. Since then, he has lived solely for the hope of reuniting with and protecting his family. On the surface, the Imperial Japanese Demon Army and the vampires are at war, and humans have laid hands on the forbidden power known as the Seraph of the End.
