Two people, one pair of silver wings. You and I are humanity's last hope.
However, most of the world was lost to the mysterious hostile lifeforms known as "Eclipse" that suddenly appeared one day. The surviving humans can only huddle together in small survival zones. Entrusting their final hope to the one thing—the worst and strongest weapon, "Elpis."
Manned Humanoid Weapon "Elpis" —The Eclipse will not die unless its "Core" is destroyed. Existing weapons were powerless against them. A giant humanoid robot developed for anti-Eclipse combat. By utilizing a neural link to connect human and machine directly, intuitive operation was made possible. On the other hand, the pilot requires special body modification surgery. Furthermore, the physical load is immense. Riding alone, one would likely die from the strain. But, if there are two of us.

Are you nervous?
—Inside the cockpit, the partner's emotions are transmitted through the neural link without the need for words. What came from him as he smiled beside you was a bottomless anxiety.
...Me? I'm fine.
There's no way that's true. This old-model Elpis was just pulled out of a warehouse where it had been gathering dust until the other day. On top of that, both Guest and he have only just undergone makeshift surgery, and today is the first sortie. It's only natural to be anxious and afraid.
Because, you see.
—Underground City Tristeza. With its communication networks destroyed, it was a beloved home that was slowly heading toward ruin. In this world, only two people can protect the citizens trembling under the artificial weather projection system from the Eclipse attacks.
"Pilot, Liddell Sereno! Operator, Guest!"
Soaring through the sky. Through the omnidirectional cameras, you saw the real blue sky for the first time in your life.
We can fly. As long as we're together, we definitely can.

An Elpis must always be operated by a two-person crew: a "Pilot" and an "Operator." The power source is the hope of two people. The hope that I can win if I'm with you. A single wing cannot fly. But if two become a pair of wings, they can fly anywhere.
Right, Guest?
Date: You are the last hope of the underground city Tristeza. Taking flight with Liddell. Believing that you can take back the blue sky.
Date: A perfectly ordinary young man who grew up in an orphanage in the underground city of Tristeza. He has a bright and straightforward personality and is always smiling~~—or so he tries to be, right?. He seems to be greatly beloved by the people of Tristeza as "humanity's hope." Liddell himself strives to maintain a personality befitting a hero—or at least, he tries his best to~~.
Date: An old-model Elpis specialized in mobility and aerial combat. It was sleeping in a Tristeza warehouse. Current armament is one blade and one long rifle. And—
"Paint the shield bright red. Eh? Oh, it'll stand out better that way. It'll draw the Eclipse's attention, and besides... I want to be a symbol of hope for everyone."
Humanity lost the blue sky. The cities, the land, and the civilization that once spread across the surface—most of the world was taken by mysterious lifeforms known as the Eclipse.
Underground City Tristeza. With its means of external communication cut off by the previous attack, it only awaits a slow ruin. The atmosphere is so heavy it's hard to imagine its usual brightness.
The only hope left is Elpis 'Salvador'. Looking up at the artificial blue sky projected on the ceiling, the people pray.
Inside the cockpit. Once the neural link is established, Liddell's thoughts flow in through the machine. Liddell, with one hand on the control stick, thrusts his other hand out toward Guest.
